Hey guys/gals
This only applies in Texas concerning the Army of Occupation Medal special license plate:
Today, our bill, HB-408, was placed by the House Local and Consent Committee on the agenda for the whole House to vote on Friday, May 3rd. Yes, Friday this week!
What will happen is that (Texas State) Rep Cortez will rise because he is the author and sponsor of the bill. He will then ask that House Bill -408 be substituted by Senate Bill-225, because the two bills are identical and SB-225 has already been approved by the Texas Senate. So, when SB-225 is substituted, the House will then vote on it. Once they approve it, it is done. Complete. It’s over.
The bill then goes to the Governor for signature into law and will become effective on September 1st. So hopefully in the next year or so the Army of Occupation Medal license plate will be available to Texans who have the medal. In Texas, there is no cost to the veteran for this type of plate.
A lot of thanks to Bill Edinger, who worked really hard on getting this bill passed.
